“Be Doers of the word not just speakers”
James 1:22
In 2005
our Parish community had over 760
families and growing rapidly. Our old church site was much outgrown
and we were in desperate need of space for our children to be
educated properly, for our parishioners to worship, and for our
organizations to flourish. Bursting at the seams, our demand for space had reached crisis proportions. While
this was a good problem to have, it did mean that we needed to expand.
As a
result, a blessed opportunity had arisen that has helped us to
meet our needs.
The former Roman
Catholic Church property that was known as the St. James the
Apostle, in Arlington Heights, off
Massachusetts Avenue, is a
three acre (plus) complex was purchased by our
congregation on November 27, 2005. It includes a large church with seating capacity
of more than eight hundred people, a large function hall
accommodating almost three hundred guests, 11 classrooms for
Sunday Church School, a community center with a lovely chapel
for daily prayer, offices and rooms for pre-school, Greek
school, youth gatherings, religious education classes,
organizations of the Church and much, much more…. (View

Just like
the early pioneers that
founded St. Athanasius, we were called to take the leap of
faith. We are visionaries that share the dream by becoming
“doers of the word” as Holy Scripture tells us. We are invited
to put our hand to our heart and generously support with our
prayers and finances the purchase of our new church home so that
our children and grandchildren can flourish.
Any amount
you can donate will help us bring our vision to fruition.
