Little Halos Curriculum

At the center of the Little Halos preschool, prekindergarten curriculum is theme-study.  Theme-study encourages depth learning through hands-on and experiences.  This thematic learning is integrated into all aspects of the day be it arts and crafts or play time.  We carefully and intentionally expand the children's knowledge through drama, creative movements, stories, poetry, painting, writing, and play.  No two children are the same and we believe that no two educational experiences should be the same; to this end we give each child the opportunity to learn in many different ways.

Children are encouraged to participate in the following:

  • Time to play alone or with friends

  • Story time - listening and discovery

  • Art - developing a sense of beauty, harmony and creativity

  • Make believe - self expression and imagination

  • Nature/city walks - understanding the world around us

  • Learning centers - opportunity to work in small groups with hands-on material

  • Circle time - social interaction through talking, sharing, singing and games

  • Developing a peaceable classroom where the three Ts of responsibility, respect and risk-taking are encouraged through discussion and role modeling
